What You Need For The Perfect Staycation
A staycation is a holiday spent in your country. It’s the little break you take once in a while. Staycations do not happen all the time, so when you are having one, it's important to make the best out of it.
Here are some things you need for the ideal staycation;
1. A budget
Staycations are meant to be a cheaper option than a full vacation abroad. Hence it's easy to get carried away and indulge. To get the best out of a staycation, you should have a budget. That way, you have clarity about what you can go for and not. Also, when it's over, you won't think of robbing a bank to recover from the expenses.
2. Fully furnished apartments
Nobody goes for a staycation to stress themselves. To get the perfect staycation, you should book fully furnished and serviced apartments for as long as you have to stay.
Short stay apartments have everything you need to have the best out of your stay. They are like an upgraded version of your home. You still get the feel of home with the facility of a hotel.
How cool is that?
3. Movies recommendation
If you are a movie buff you should come with a recommendation of movies you want to see. This will save you hours of searching for the right movies or watching the wrong ones.
Ask people you trust for their recommendations or search online. Since your short stay accommodation has full DSTV and Netflix subscription, it’s a good time to eat delicious snacks and binge on these movies!
4. Plans for food
Food is life. Planning for what to eat is very important. Great food can take an experience from zero to a hundred real quick! You can do a one-time grocery shopping that will last you your whole stay if you’d rather prepare your meals. There’s a kitchen in your fully furnished apartments.
However, unless you really love cooking, or your staycation is really long, it might be more convenient to order food or eat out.
Eating out is also a great option. Whatever you do, have a plan for what yo eat! Starving on a staycation is not the best idea.
5. Books and magazines
With the internet and social media, reading books seems to be getting unpopular. However, during a staycation, since you have all the time to yourself, it’s a good time to read the books and magazines you’ve been putting off.
6. Unplug from work
Working is great. It gives you a sense of purpose and means of livelihood. However, you can be so caught up in your work, you’ll forget what it feels like to detach from it and rest.
To get the best out of your staycation, unplug for work. Do not work until your staycation is over. Don’t check if everything is going well. Don’t tell yourself, ‘it will be real quick.’ Do not work at all.
If you really have to work, set out some hours for work. When the time is over, completely unplug and enjoy your staycation.
7. Self treat or self indulge
A staycation is a good time to give yourself a treat or indulge in that guilty pleasure. Go for a spa or massage, dance to slow music, do something you know that makes you happy and you don’t get to do all the time!
It can even be as simple as walking around naked
8. Go out!
No matter how long you’ve lived in your city or how much you think you know it, you’ll be surprised by what you’ll find when you go on a leisure trip.
Visit all the popular and not so popular places. Have fun and enjoy!
9. Company
Having company during a staycation can be awesome. However, you should know that it is not necessary.
You’ll be surprised that your marriage, relationship or friendship hasn’t lost its spark. Your lover or friends hasn’t gotten boring. Sometimes, it takes a staycation together to realize this.
You’ll have the opportunity to spend quality uninterrupted time with your company, do things together, and strengthen your bond.
